Easy Lake access makes Windermere a popular spot for fishing, swimming, water skiing, windsurfing, hang-gliding and golf. Windermere, located 10 km south of Invermere, features a variety of dining establishments, a local pub, grocery store, elementary school, highway gasoline outlets, motel, B&B\u2019s, the Windermere Valley Nursery (picture), bowling alley and the Windermere Volunteer Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Numerous original buildings still stand today and have been converted into beautiful homes.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” border_style=”” up=”40″ down=”0″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The community has been active since the 1880s and many old buildings still remain, the Stolen Church, the Whitehouse Hotel, the old RCMP barracks, and the Gold Commissars house. The community was originally serviced by paddle-wheelers and remnants of an old wharf remain submerged beneath the waters of Hidden Bay.<\/p>\n
